FM 969 Improvements To Be Presented FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 12, 2006 AUSTIN – Proposed improvements to FM 969 will be the subject of an Open House scheduled by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for Thursday, May 4. The event will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the YMCA located at 5315 US 183 in Austin. There will be no formal presentation; however, TxDOT staff members will be available to answer questions from the public and schematic maps will be available. The project calls for reconstructing FM 969 between FM 3177 and State Highway 130 to improve both safety and mobility. TxDOT is proposing to upgrade the current roadway from its current configuration to a divided six-lane urban facility. The rebuilt road would feature three travel lanes in each direction, various left and right turn bays and shoulders on each side. Additionally sidewalks would be constructed along the length of the project. Median breaks would be at Oak Street, the entrance to the Woodlands subdivision, North Imperial Drive and Blue Bluff Road. An interchange would be built at FM 973 and drainage facilities would be upgraded at FM 973 and Elm Creek, south of FM 979. Schematic diagrams may be viewed prior to the meeting at TxDOT’s Austin District Office, 7901 Interstate 35 North, in Austin.
