South Padre Island Drive\Crosstown Interchange Main Lanes Closed
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April, 28 2006
- Westbound S. Padre Island Dr. will be closed from Crosstown to West
Point on Saturday, from 7 am to 6 pm.– for bridge work over the westbound
main lanes
- Traffic detoured to northbound Crosstown
- Westbound S Padre Island Drive traffic going to I 37, SH 44 – use the
Crosstown Expressway to I 37 or Ayers exit to the crossover and follow the
frontage road to through Greenwood to the West Point on ramp.
- Ayers intersection closed to through traffic – traffic detoured to
frontage roads
- Traffic wishing to go to Greenwood Area or continue west on SPID take:
- Take the Ayers exit to the crossover and follow the frontage road to
Greenwood turnaround and return along the frontage road to get to
businesses on the south side. (Wal-Mart, Tinsel Town, IHOP, etc.)
- Travelers can use Saratoga to Old Brownsville Road to eastbound SPID
to Greenwood area
- Eastbound South Padre Island Drive Main Lanes Closed –
Saturday from 7 am to 6 pm for bridge work over the eastbound main lanes
- Traffic detoured to Ayers Exit to the Ayers Crossover through the
intersection to the Kostoryz on ramp
- Ayers intersection closed to through traffic – traffic detoured to
frontage roads
(Southbound Crosstown to eastbound SPID will be open)
Eastbound is going toward the island
Westbound is going toward the airport
Northbound is going toward downtown
Southbound is going toward Saratoga Blvd.
Expect delays, travelers should use caution, watch for traffic control
signing and slow down. Take an alternate route.
