SH 89 Project Begins
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, May, 19 2006 Zachry Construction Corporation of San Antonio will begin the $44.4 million dollar highway project around Sinton, Texas this week. This project will build a new 4 lane divided roadway from US 181 south of Sinton, FM 1074, to US 181, 3 miles north of Sinton. The road will be built on new location and will include overpasses at Business 77, and US 181 north. The project will build overpasses on US 77 over SH 89. New bridges will be built at Oliver and Chiltipin Creeks. The first phase of the project will be from FM 1074 along US 181 to Oliver Creek. The second phase will be from SH 188 to Business 77. The third phase will be from BU 77 to US 77 and the final phase will be from US 77 to US 181. The project is expected to be completed in about three years. Special care throughout the project area is recommended and encouraged. Construction operations are being monitored for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) through the office of Sinton Area Engineer Bill Reitmann.
