Trees spruce up I-30 landscape

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; January 17, 2006

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin landscaping enhancements along I-30 near the Dallas-Mesquite city limits this week.

The project involves planting trees such as Balch Cypress, Desert Willow and Mexican Plum along a short stretch of highway from east of Loop 12 to the Mesquite city limits. No lane closures are expected during landscaping.

According to Gary Moonshower P.E., TxDOT’s area engineer for the Southeast Dallas Area Office, the project is 100 percent state funded.

Contractor for the $224,000 project is Dallas-based Texas Trees Foundation. The project is expected to be completed by late March.
