FM 1488 Improvements In Waller County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, February 24, 2006

The Texas Transportation Commission has awarded a contract for the repair and repaving of FM 1488 near Hempstead in Waller County. A new eastbound left- and westbound right-turn lanes will be added at the entry of the recently constructed St. Katherine Catholic Church. The church is located on the north side of FM 1488; it is anticipated that the new parish church will bring an increase of daily traffic in the area.

This section of FM 1488 is between Hempstead and the new US 290. FM 1488 currently has an Average Daily Traffic (ADT) count of 4,000 vehicles at this location. FM 1488 is a busy highway connecting Hempstead to Magnolia and Conroe in Montgomery County.

Angel Brothers Enterprise, LTD. was awarded the $273,796 contract for the project located midway between BU 290 and west Clear Creek Bridge.

Construction will be completed by the end June 2006.
