FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, September 2, 2005

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a project to overlay US Highway 84 mainlanes and ramps from Wickson Road in Woodway to Lake Air Drive in Waco. The project signs will be set beginning on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 and the road work is expected to begin several days after. The roadway work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting.

The project involves overlaying and re-striping the road surface. Resurfacing is routine highway maintenance designed to increase the life, ride and safety of a roadway.

Lindsey Contractors of Waco is undertaking the 4.7-mile project at a cost of $ 1.7 Million. The project is estimated for completion in the Spring of 2006.

Some congestion, temporary lane closures and minor delays can be expected at various times and locations within the project area, during construction operations.

TxDOT urges motorists to reduce speed, be patient and exercise extreme caution when driving through the work zones.
