The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun a project to extend Farm to Market road 1695, in Hewitt, to Interstate 35.

The approximately 2-mile project will extend and widen the existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane facility with continuous turn lane from I-35 at Old Temple Road (Exit 325) to approximately 1-mile north of FM 2113 (vicinity of Post Office) in Hewitt. Additionally, both Richie Road and Waterford Way will be realigned and extended to FM 1695 just south of the Post Office in Hewitt. A bridge will also be constructed that will allow FM 1695 to span the intersection of FM 2113 and the Union Pacific railroad.

The project is being undertaken by Big Creek Construction of Waco at a cost of $15.7 million and is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2007.

TxDOT cautions motorists to reduce speed, observe all warning signs, be patient and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area.
