Example Project #1

Project Name: Athens Memorial Median

Location: City of Athens

Project Description: In order to visually enhance a strip of roadway, the City of Athens added landscaping and a lengthwise walkway to a block-long median along S.H.19. The median includes markers, placed by the historical commission, commemorating historic events and sites found locally, giving visitors information and aesthetically improving the highway's appearance.

Example Project #2

Project Name: Old Cora Square Landscaping

Location: City of Comanche

Project Description: The City of Comanche enhanced its downtown area by adding landscaping and rehabilitating a portion of their downtown historic square. The square houses the oldest surviving wooden structure courthouse in Texas, known as Old Cora. The landscaping project included constructing sidewalks, adding an arbor and irrigation system, picnic tables, and wheelchair accessibility.

Example Project #3

Project Name: Texas State Capitol, Historic South Grounds

Location: City of Austin

Project Description: This project complements the comprehensive historic restoration of the Texas State Capitol building by landscaping 27 acres of the original South Capitol grounds. The landscaping includes planting with native vegetation and restoration of the historic grounds that are listed with the Capitol in the National Register of Historic Places.
